This privacy policy describes how Scrambly ("the app") handles information. Scrambly is a casual word game published by Peter Li, operating under the name Apptato, based in Ontario, Canada. I take a minimal approach to data — Scrambly is designed to work without accounts, logins, or collecting personal information from you directly.
Scrambly does not collect, store, or transmit:
There are no user accounts and no login system. You do not need to provide any personal information to play Scrambly.
Scrambly saves certain gameplay data locally on your device using Apple's standard storage mechanisms. This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to me or any third party. It includes:
You can reset all locally stored game statistics at any time from the Settings screen. Deleting the app from your device also removes this data.
Scrambly integrates with Apple's Game Center for leaderboard functionality. If you choose to use Game Center, your highest single-round score may be submitted to Apple's Game Center servers and displayed on a public leaderboard alongside other players. Game Center is operated by Apple, not by me, and its use is governed by Apple's own privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
You can disable Game Center on your device at any time through iOS Settings. If Game Center is disabled, Scrambly will still work fully — you just won't see or submit leaderboard scores.
Scrambly is free and supported by interstitial advertisements shown between gameplay rounds. Advertising is provided by Google AdMob.
AdMob may collect and use certain information for ad delivery and measurement, including your device's advertising identifier, approximate location (derived from IP address), device type, and information about your interactions with ads. I do not receive this information directly — it is collected and processed by Google under Google's own privacy practices.
For more information on how Google uses data for ads, see: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
On first launch, Scrambly will ask for your permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. You can decline — the app will continue to work, but you may see less personalized ads.
Scrambly is rated for ages 4 and up but is intended for general audiences, not specifically directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If a parent or guardian believes that a child has provided information to the app in a way that would require parental consent under applicable law, please contact me at the email below and I will address the matter promptly.
The only third-party services Scrambly interacts with are:
Both services are governed by their respective privacy policies, linked above.
I may update this privacy policy occasionally to reflect changes to the app or to legal requirements. When I do, I'll update the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes on the App Store.
Because Scrambly does not collect personal information directly, there is generally nothing for me to access, correct, or delete on your behalf. For data handled by Apple (Game Center) or Google (AdMob), you should contact those companies directly or use the privacy controls they provide through your device settings.
This privacy policy is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada.
